Star Wars: The Broken and the Damned

"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.."
For sixty years they fought to the bitter end. It all started in 120 ABY with a simple declaration by the New Republic regarding the ownership of an Outer Rim planet. It is believed that a Dark Side force user was controlled both factions, the Republic and the Galactic Empire, but this has yet to be proven. What is known is that nothing could repair the damage that ensued from the war. This was what was to be expected by the two factions, seeing as how only a lose armistice had been signed between them. However, what was unexpected was the eruption of smaller, but still formidable, para-military and galactic conglomerates that decided to join in the war. They declared war on each other, on the Republic, and on the Empire. No one was safe in the days of the War of Attrition.
The Jedi Order was torn apart during the sixty years of war by the never-ending barrages from the Sith and their counterparts. They all came at once, but struck from many places. Every faction was undermined by the Dark Side, or so it is said. The truth is that the blame has never been properly placed, but the 'Dark Side Conspiracy' was still created as a temporary scapegoat. It said that in some way the war had been a machination of evil, an event procured by the dark side of the Force. During the final years of the war the Jedi were cast out from the Republic and went into hiding, while the Sith were hunted down by all. At the same time all of the major factions became drained. No longer could they continue to fight, and as such the war just ceased. There was no treaty, no pact to signify the end. The soldiers simply lost the will to fight and the machines lost the supplies necessary to work.
This is the state that the Galaxy has declined from in the last twenty standard years. Conflict still arises on all planets. The once major planets of the past have become festering pits of disease, poverty and crime, with the last being the major player. Crime lords have started to flourish in the wake of destruction. They do not care for the people of the Galaxy and look only to take advantage of the poor and become richer in some fashion. The Republic Alliance, which is an evolution of the New Republic, cannot stop all of the crime and thus have begun hiring mercenaries in order to fight their battles. There are not enough weapons to go around, but this is not peace, this is but an interlude between the wars. There was no end, there will be no end.
The Imperial Remnant believes that they can restore their Empire, while the Republic believes they can organize the planets into a democratic civilization once again. However, a greater power has made itself known: the collective clans of the Mandalorians. They are brave warriors and train for endless hours on remote planets, not even populated by their people. This is because they know that a clash will soon come between the factions of the Galaxy, war will erupt again. The question on everyone's mind is whether the Sith have survived or whether they have been wiped out. The Jedi, who hide in the shadows of the light, know that the Sith Lords have become few in numbers but strong in resolve. These Lords of the Dark Side have begun to recruit and train, just as the Jedi are attempting, but can they survive being hunted by the Empire and the hunters they employ?
It is a dangerous and turbulent time for the galaxy, with a fiercely tyrannical Galactic Empire looking to reclaim its dreadful glory and the rest of the galactic inhabitants looking to stop them by any means they deem necessary. The Mandalorian Clans sit on the sidelines of the inevitable conflict, waiting for the time to reclaim their own past glory, and the criminals of the Underworld profit off of all parties, reeling in credits from the spoils of the war to come.
Who will make the first move? When will the Sith and Jedi return to the main stage of the Galaxy? Is there hope still for democracy in a galaxy drowning in corruption?
Only you can decide in a galaxy filled with the broken and the damned.
