"No, no. I insist Commander, you have got to let Glamor treat you and your vife to dinner. I mean, vith how old you're getting, you have got to celebrate every year, no?" Lieutenant Gallistra "Gale" Persianati, of Nova Squadron was driving her fixed-up, antique, Aratech 59-D Zephyr through the space lanes of Coruscant, speaking animatedly in her Catharese accent of basic. The roof had been collapsed turning it into a convertible, a shiny, red, eye-turning, masterpiece of an air speeder.
"Hey, My wallet is empty from the last time you pulled that stunt! You should pitch in more than your suggestions this time, Gale." Glamor, or Lt Owen "Glamor Boy" Barker, was leaning against the side of the speeder, putting on a sour attitude.
Donna Dubracy, the Commander's wife spoke up from the backseat, where she and her husband were getting the "limo treatment", even if it was a bit too fast and erratic for her tastes. "She has a point, Owen." She smiled. "It's terrible manners to force a woman to pay the bill, and it was you who offered to bring us." The woman didn't look like she was even out of her mid-thirties yet, but both she and her husband had crossed into the realm of forties several years ago. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, sharing in the deception that they were playing on ol' Lobo, Her husband, and the combination of fatherly, and older brother figure to the Nova Squadron.
Karl Dubracy, Commander of the Novas, had been at this for a long time. His squad were like his family, and so his "family" had decided to get him on his birthday this year. "Sorry Owen," the CO was grinning happily. "The ladies have spoken. Tell ya what, I'll let ya have the chance to win dinner back over a game of Sabacc later, Hm?" The Commander's eyes shone with a predatory delight. He was the reigning sabacc champ of the group. Owen only groaned. "Oh, and watch what you say, Kitty. I'm not that old." Kitty was a nickname that the Dubracys had for Gallistra.
"Yes Commander, but it's hard to remember that. You've made me vhat I am today, after all. You prrractically raised me." She peeked back at him, taking her eyes off the road for a moment, and Owen had to lunge over to grab the steering wheel to keep them from colliding with a mid-sized freighter. They lurched hard to the side, before Gale managed to rip control back from her passenger in the front. Shaking her fist at the long past driver, she yelled,"Stay out of my space lane! Laserbrain!"
"Dear, are you sure you should have let Kitty drive?" Donna asked her husband, finally getting over the scare. Lobo, on the other hand, seemed less confidant. "...No." He shook his head at her.
